In the world over 10 million animals,5% are vertebrates, and 95% invertebrates.

Basic features of animal organization

1.Diploid

2.Multicelular

3.Lack cell walls

4.Metameric segmentation

5.Symmetry

6.Cephalizaton

7.Formaton of the body cavity(coelom)

Body symmetry- 

   1.Radial symmetry- any number of imaginary planes can divide into 2 equal halves.
   2.Bilateral symmetry- only one plane will result in 2 symmetrical halves.
   3.Assymetry- lack symmetry.

Body cavity-

   Most primitive animals don't have a coelom. They called acoelomate.
   More advanced animals have a coelom. They are called coelomate.

Tissue layer-

  3 animal tissues.

  There are,

                1.Ectoderm

                2.Mesoderm

                3.Endoderm

The basic features of embryonic development in animals.

They are,

 2.Coelenterata (Cnidaria)

Kingdom Animalia divides into 2 subkingdoms. They are,

  Sub kingdom Parazoa

  Sub kingdom Eumetazoa
